Project Overview
ReefMate App targets reef aquarist who are looking for the convenience of a mobile app with which to track important reef aquarium parameters such as toxicity levels, salinity & chemistry as well as keeping track of fish, corals and other livestock.
Sketches
To better understand how to bring the visuals together in a cohesive digital solution, pencil sketches were completed. This helped to resolve relationships with interaction and how visual elements would aid the user in navigating the app.
Wireframes
High definition wireframes were created. Actual reef aquarium owners where then used to test the functionality and feasibility. Feedback was incorporated and the user interface adjusted based upon these paper tests.
Coding
Coded using JQuery Mobile, the app allows reef aquarists the convenience of managing multiple mixed-reef tanks. It makes maintenance easier by traking water parameters, livestock and offering reminders.
Project Details
The outcomes with the ReefMate app offer more convenience compared to recording aquarium parameters with pencil on paper. It offers the ability to document all aspects of tank husbandry.
Future features of ReefMate include the ability to control over WIFI any enable aquarium equipment such as pumps, chemical dosers and lights. These features all combine to provide peace of mind and convenience.
